Sunox Industrial Gases and Welding Products Specialists

Company Timeline

1997 - Company Opening

Sunox Industrial Gases Inc. was started by four ambitious partners looking to provide metal fabricators within the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge and Guelph area an alternative to large corporate suppliers of welding products and industrial gases. Doors were opened in August 1997 and momentum quickly built.

2000 - Expansion & Transfill Upgrade

Within three years, the company found a need to expand and gain further independence from suppliers. The expansion doubled the square footage available, allowing for increased warehouse space and a cylinder transfill. For the next three years, 450 liter refrigerated liquid cylinders were used to supply bulk gas.

2003 - New Building

With an ever increasing customer base, Sunox again outgrew their space and a substantially larger facility was determined necessary to support future operations. Sunox executives conceptualized and designed their own facility, and then purchased a lot in south-east Cambridge on which to build it. The facility was completed in mid-2003, and was occupied by the fall.

2004 - Bulk Tanks and Transfill Upgrade

The transfill equipment purchased years earlier was no longer adequate to support increased demand. Higher capacity equipment was purchased, and three 6000 gallon liquid bulk tanks (oxygen, argon, nitrogen) were installed on the north side of the building. Soon after, a fourth bulk tank for carbon dioxide was purchased and installed.

2006 - Propane Facility

Due to an increasing demand from customers for propane, a standalone propane transfill was installed in the north corner of the property.

2007 - Toronto Area Growth

Due to increased demand for our products and services from Toronto area companies, Sunox added technical sales representatives resident to the Greater Toronto Area. These representatives are completely mobile and generally live within their sales territories.

2010 - Our Initial Vision is Met

In 2010, Sunox became the largest Canadian owned independent welding products distributor in Ontario.
